Credit Validation for DoDEA Participants Only

In this one graduate credit course participants will deepen their knowledge and practice of teaching writing in small groups. Through reading “Teaching Writing in Small Groups” by Jennifer Serravallo, implementing writing groups and practice, participants will better understand how to meet the demands of the CCRSL and improving students’ writing in their classroom. Course meetings will provide participants the opportunity to collaborate on literacy instructional strategies, focused on balanced literacy, while improving students’ performance in writing. The course activities will include engaging in a collaborative learning community with colleagues, collaborative co-planning, analyzing student performance, and reflecting on their own learning through a response journal. An artifact from the implemented writing groups and summary of the learning will be presented and submitted as a final journal response during the last week of the course.
