As the situation evolves, the University of San Diego remains focused on addressing two imperatives: ensuring that we take prudent precautions to protect our community and communities beyond our campus, and continuing to deliver a values-based, liberal arts education that prepares our students to address society’s most urgent challenges. Experienced Instructors

Julie Ducharme: Dr. Julie Ducharme is an award-winning author, national title holder, speaker, consultant and CEO of JD Consulting Solutions, Julie’s Party People and President and creator of Synergy Learning Institute. For the last 17 years, Dr. Ducharme has been working with corporations, colleges, and universities throughout the country as well as internationally. Dr. Ducharme holds a BA in communication, MBA with a specialization in marketing, and a DBA with a specialization in Leadership. Dr. Ducharme is published author with a wide range of specialties from her children’s book, Amy the Clumsy Angel, Women in Senior Leadership Positions in Academia, Award winning The Refractive Thinker: Social Responsibility, best paper at the IBAM conference and her most recent book Leading by My Ponytail; Why Can’t I Wear Pink and be President. Dr. Ducharme is also a professor and consultant for many universities where she designs curriculum and guides doctoral students on their research journeys. Dr. Ducharme’s goal and passion is to empower women and lift up women to aspire to make a change.

Lucia Foglia: Dr. Lucia Foglia, has 17 years of experience as instructor of philosophy and ethics, researcher in philosophy of mind and cognitive science, community specialized support worker for college students with cognitive impairments, curriculum developer and content manager for the primate industry. She has worked for various Universities and Colleges world-wide including Italy, France, Canada and the United States. At the College of Extended Learning she teaches primarily Ethics (Managing with Personal and Professional Ethics). She completed her PhD in Philosophy in 2009 and earned an Master’s degree in Education in 2017. Before receiving her Doctoral degree, she earned degrees also in Psychology and Business Management. She is currently the Lead Faculty of one of the courses running at the College of Extended Learning. As an advocate for lifelong learning, her teaching philosophy is focuses on student success and consists of facilitating meaningful learning of the course materials while supporting all facets of the learning process.Dr. Foglia values respect, academic integrity, and an open mentality.  

Jacob Boult: Throughout his career, Jacob has been able to effectively build and implement leadership and professional development programs in global matrix organizations, partner to grow group culture with teams in varied industries, and coach leaders to improve their quality of work by fostering self/group leadership competencies. He has a Masters in Leadership Studies and is a Certified Leadership Coach from the University of San Diego. Jacob is also a trained facilitator for Immunity to Change, Courageous Followership, Emotional Intelligence, and Culture & Engagement Building.
