In partnership with the University of San Diego's Nonprofit Institute, the Division of Professional and Continuing Education's Nonprofit Management Certificate program has been designed to build professional and practical skills needed to support your organization's sustainability and growth. This program will assist you in building your nonprofit knowledge and skills in financial management, fundraising, staff and volunteer management, board development, program evaluation and risk management.

Complete the requirements below to earn a professional certificate in Nonprofit Management. Learn more about USD's Certificate Benefits and Policy.

  • Complete all required courses (8 units)
  • Complete all coursework with a final GPA of 2.5 (out of 4) or higher
  • Improve your ability to champion a cause and increase campaign success
  • Build a productive board that can help lead your nonprofit to the next level
  • Recognize internal controls, apply fund accounting, and develop financial tools and budgets
  • Build your brand and explore marketing strategies to differentiate your organization and increase brand awareness
  • Make a positive impact in the community and at your nonprofit organization

Strengthen your nonprofit management portfolio by earning a Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) credential. Students completing the USD Nonprofit Management Certificate program are eligible to obtain this national credential from the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (NLA).

CNP Requirements: Bachelor's Degree, Completion of the USD Nonprofit Certificate Program, Registration in the NLA program, 300 Hours of internship or verifiable work and/or volunteer experience at a nonprofit agency, Attendance at one NLA Management Institute or approved an alternative conference
