University of San Diego Launches Essential Leadership Skills Series

Three-part program designed for business professionals

December 19, 2019, (SAN DIEGO, CA) – The University of San Diego’s (USD’s) Division of Professional and Continuing Education (PCE) is proud to announce the launch of a new professional development program, The Essential Leadership Skills Series. This three-part series will begin in spring 2020, with courses to take place on the campus of USD.

As the labor force reaches full employment, organizations and talent developers across industries are struggling to find candidates with the skills, knowledge, and training required to meet their organization's strategic vision. The Essential Leadership Skills Series program was developed in response to the increasing skills gap and is designed to improve each participant’s business acumen in terms of soft skills in the workplace.

The courses offered in the program are as follows:

  • The Power and Influence of Communication: This course will teach new strategies on how to approach communication in the workplace to enhance productivity and teamwork. Practical applications will include how to have crucial conversations, emotional intelligence in communicating, and how to motivate, influence and communicate with diverse teams.
  • Emotional Intelligence Development for Professionals: This course is intended for those aspiring or in a leadership role and will explore the emotional side of leading themselves, others and organizations. Topics explored include authenticity and integrity, vulnerability, emotional intelligence, mindfulness, personal change management, and gratitude.
  • Problem Solving for a Dynamic Workplace: This course will teach the framework to identify the key elements of workplace challenges by exploring the problems that emerge within an organization. Students will learn ways to re-frame problems, identify the right questions to ask, test assumptions, prototype solutions and design solutions for future challenges.

The three courses will be taught by professors Alex Waters, Dr. Julie Ducharme, and Jacob Boult. For more information, please Sign up below to receive additional information and RSVP to a FREE live informational webinar on January 10, 2020.
