Love of Language: Walt Whitman is designed to develop a literary appreciation for the poetic works of Walt Whitman, including how he broke with European literary forms to establish a broad new voice for American poetry. How Whitman influenced his contemporaries and those that came after him in the cultural formation of the United States, will be discussed. In this course you will be guided by an audio course, published by the Recorded Book’s Modern Scholar, in a journey that begins by studying and reflecting on the language of Walt Whitman and concludes with an independent writing, research or curriculum project.
Number of Units: 1.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours
