This fall semester, Your Classroom Academy will empower educators with foundational strategies to create dynamic, engaging, and student-centered classrooms. Over the course of five units, participants will develop and refine their skills in building relationships, fostering inquiry, and promoting critical thinking through active note-taking.
Teachers will explore techniques to establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and motivated to succeed. Topics include cultivating meaningful relationships, setting clear expectations, and creating structures for collaboration and trust. Educators will also learn to introduce and apply Costa’s Levels of Thinking to guide students toward higher-order thinking. Additionally, they will integrate inquiry-based practices into their lesson plans, using targeted questioning techniques to challenge students and promote deep understanding. Through the active note-taking strategy, participants will master the 2-column format and discover how to layer notes intentionally, helping students create meaning and purpose in their learning.
