Credit Validation for DoDEA Participants Only

This course will focus on five key content modules designed to support school administrators and above-school-level leadership in overseeing and managing special education programs and services. The content will emphasize what school administrators need to know and be able to do in the realm of student services in general, with a specific focus on students with disabilities.

The course will highlight fundamental components of effective leadership for ensuring procedural compliance and high-quality instructional practices.

It consists of five modules that cover essential content critical to program compliance. Each module is delivered through a synchronous learning session (3 hours) with asynchronous pre- and post-session activities.

Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for DoDEA Participants.

Prerequisites: The only prerequisite for course enrollment is the job position.

Refund Policy: All Credit Validation enrollments are refundable, less a $25 fee, if requested within 30 days of enrollment date. There will be no refunds for Credit Validation after the allotted 30 days.

  • Utilize the tools within the Aspen SIS Module to generate reports and data that support the oversight of special education programs and services in schools
  • Understand fundamental concepts and guidelines for addressing challenging behaviors in students with disabilities
  • Guide CSC Teams in documenting educational decisions regarding services and placement through effective Prior Written Notice, Meeting Minutes, and adherence to parental rights and safeguards
  • Identify critical elements and quality indicators (“look-fors”) in IEP development, as well as supervisory oversight and management of instructional practices and services
  • Apply the strategic framework process to draft legally sound and viable options/responses to common challenges (e.g., lack of student progress, denial of FAPE, LRE, etc.)
