Most often your role as an educator/counselor/administrator comes with the expectation to possess skills necessary to effectively use applications like Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and a gamut of other approved enterprise applications like, “Flip, Lumio (Smart Learning Suite), Pear Deck, Kahoot, Adobe Express and much more to create interactive and engaging content for students and collaborate effectively with peers. Mastery of ubiquitous technology use and transferring those skills to your students is key to overall student success. Educators have a responsibility to share their expertise in technology by integrating technology into their curriculum in useful and meaningful ways and know how to troubleshoot when technology goes awry. This course will give you the confidence to try new technologies and empower your students to use these technologies to communicate, explore and create.
This course begins by discussing the methodologies and benefits of integrating technology across the curriculum. Students will become familiar with terms like cloud software, cloud storage, client-side and cloud-based applications, Microsoft 365 ecosystem, Content Management Systems (CMS), and learn how and when to integrate these applications to save time and increase student learning.
Participants will work extensively in cloud-based applications like Google Workspace to include but not limited to: Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites and Forms, as well as Adobe Express and other Creative Cloud applications. Additionally students will explore client-side applications like Adobe , MS Office 365 office integration.
The emphasis of the course is to provide educators will enough confidence and knowledge to explore current applications and share these skills with their students and colleagues through project-based learning strategies and effective collaboration opportunities. Understanding of course material will allow educators to employ key components of 21st Century Teaching and Learning. The course will cover ISTE standards for students and help educators evaluating the skills and knowledge students need to learn effectively and live productively in an increasingly global and digital world. Additionally, the course will review the ISTE Standards for Teachers, e.g., the skills and knowledge educators need to teach, work and learn in an increasingly changing global and digital society.
