Course Description

Credit Validation for DoDEA Participants Only

This two-credit graduate course is designed for teachers, administrators, and Instructional Support Specialists (ISSs) to build capacity in co-teaching models and instructional strategies that support the academic needs of all learners across content areas and grade levels.

Each of the five modules includes a local face-to-face session facilitated by a Multilingual Learner Program Teacher Leader at each complex. For school complexes without a local facilitator, a virtual teacher leader or ISS will facilitate the live sessions via MS Teams. Access to supplemental materials will be provided during the live sessions.

Refund Policy: All Credit Validation enrollments are refundable, less a $25 fee, if requested within 30 days of enrollment date. There will be no refunds for Credit Validation after the allotted 30 days.

What You Will Learn

  • Implement various models of co-teaching that emphasize interpersonal skills, content knowledge, instructional design, and the stages of co-teaching
  • Apply research-based instructional methods to co-teaching
  • Evaluate co-teaching experiences with tools for professional self-reflection to improve instruction
  • Create co-teaching lesson plans collaboratively with colleagues and implement plans to support multilingual learners and students with an IEP or 504 plan
  • Apply critical thinking skills to create a dynamic co-teaching experience to increase student outcomes for all learners
