This course provides an exploration of assistive technology (AT) processes and frameworks to foster accessibility and inclusion for individuals with diverse abilities. Students will examine the principles, strategies and frameworks related to AT consideration and implementation within IEP and 504 procedures. Through hands-on experiences, students will gain practical skills in evaluating, selecting, and customizing assistive technologies to meet the specific needs of DoDEA students. Additionally, we will explore how self advocacy impacts AT integration into educational, professional, and everyday environments. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to effectively consider, implement and document assistive technologies that empower individuals with disabilities.
