Course Description

Credit Validation for DoDEA Participants Only 

In this course, participants will participate in cross complex teacher rounds and conduct action research on a self-selected topic. During Phase 1, participants will conduct observations within three partnering schools over the course of 4 days before selecting an action research topic. During Phase 2, participants will design and implement an action research project to include a portfolio. A final reflection will result in participants identifying further steps for the school year. Participants will work independently or collaboratively in cohorts for projects.

  • Engage in a cross-complex teacher round in order to share expertise and develop knowledge and understanding of effective teaching practices to support rigor and student engagement in 21C math workshop settings
  • Commit to a specific action to take back to their context to plan for, implement and reflect on to support students in 21C 3rd grade math workshop settings
  • Participate in cross-complex collaboration and reflection with other school teams
  • Develop an action research focus with focused collaboration team
  • Study, understand, and apply research based instructional strategies to promote student engagement in math core instruction through action research project
  • Collect evidence of shifts in teaching and learning related to action research project (teaching and student data artifacts)
  • Participate in final reflection session to share portfolio
