Do You Know Which Area of the Event Industry Is Right For You?

Gain the pragmatic knowledge of the special events industry giving students a basic understanding of what can be expected as a professional event planner. Students will survey key industry pillars, the process by which an event becomes a reality and the tools required,  explore career opportunities, as well as, professional associations within the industry.

Learner Outcomes

  • Define the event industry pillars
  • Assess goal and objectives of an event
  • Communicate ideas, design concepts, and event goals effectively to clients
  • Create a realistic budget for clients and work with and educate them on how to stay within it
  • Develop an itinerary that is informative, accurate, and helpful in steering clients and entire teams towards success
  • Implement Brainstorming, Mind Mapping and Five Card Draw
  • Design a Dream Board and present to it to clients

Number of Units: 2.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours

Who Should Attend: Whether you are an administrative assistant, entrepreneur, or current event professional at an entry level position, who is interested in becoming responsible for coordinating small to large-scale events including meetings, fundraisers, conferences, corporate programs, weddings, reunions, and sporting events.
