Course Description

Learn the Techniques You Need to Mitigate Risk and Successfully Complete Projects

The course will examine the real estate development and redevelopment strategies (including commercial, residential and industrial land uses) necessary to succeed in a rapidly changing marketplace. Students will explore issues related to market research, entitlement processing and permitting, physical planning, project phasing, capital and financing resources, and developer management preparation for the next real estate cycle.

Learner Outcomes

  • Understand the role of market research and analysis, and increase market share to result in more land use entitlements
  • Evaluate conceptual market opportunities and their feasibility
  • Identify site and product planning approaches, and understand project economics
  • Learn to finance structuring, debt and equity
  • Create phasing and sequence of development options while coordinating project marketing and site merchandising
