Course Description

Build Financial Models for the Acquisition and Refinancing of Commercial Real Estate

Students of this course should have a prior understanding of the financial basics taught in Real Estate Investment and Income Analysis 101. Each week students will be given case studies to take home analyze for the following week's class. Students will prepare financial models and analysis for the case studies to determine the overall profitability and feasibility, and to identify the risk attributes that can affect the investment. Students must have access to a computer, a real working knowledge of excel spreadsheets or some other spreadsheet program, and come prepared each class to discuss the analysis

  • Structure a joint venture for a real estate syndication
  • Identify investment opportunity analysis for a bulk sale of condominiums
  • Restructure debt/equity for a distressed project
  • Analyze investments as a limited partner
