Develop a Deeper Understanding in the Field of Second Language Acquisition (SLA)
Students will trace the historical development of the theories and concepts in the field of SLA and study methods of implementing current theories in the ESL classroom.
Learner Outcomes
Demonstrate an understanding of:
- Historical development in the field of second language acquisition
- Aspects of leaner language in an ESL classroom
- External factors affecting second language acquisition such as classroom environment, input and interaction
- Internal factors affecting second language acquisition such as language transfer, cognitive accounts and linguistic universals
- Individual learner differences in an ESL classroom
