This course will help instructors to integrate ELL students into the classroom community focusing on the assets that they bring to the learning environment. Strategies, activities and research-based pedagogies will be introduced and explored to promote inclusivity of all students regardless of language proficiency. It will help students integrate diversity into their curricula and classroom environment. Our learning environments are becoming increasingly more diverse. This course will help to create a harmonious, inclusive classroom environment for all students regardless of English proficiency. This course will guide participants in identifying the needs and assets that ELL students possess and help them reach their full potential.
Number of Units: 2.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours
Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for any educator working with English Language Learners that wants to create a learning environment that meets the educational, emotional an social needs of all students. Our online self-paced courses are designed to provide flexibility and autonomy for learners. Typically, there is a final project, paper, or exam due in the last module that synthesizes all the topics covered throughout the course. The design of the learning modules follows a consistent rhythm to help you manage your time effectively. Grades will be available within two weeks of final submission, transcripts will be automatically mailed out following grades being posted and approved. Please allow 3-4 weeks from when final grades are posted to receive a transcript.
