Course Description

Credit Validation for Great Books Participants

In this course, educators explore the key concepts and practices of Shared Inquiry (TM), the Great Books Foundation's collaborative approach to learning and teaching. Educators will participate in and lead Shared Inquiry discussions, prepare interpretive questions based on a complex text and learn how to conduct discussions and other inquiry-based activities of the program.

  • Apply the key features of Shared Inquiry (TM) discussion and the role of the leader, acquiring this understanding through participating in and leading discussions
  • Prepare a complex text for Shared Inquiry (TM) by making notes and composing interpretive questions about its meaning
  • Use follow-up questions in discussion and other inquiry-based activities, acquiring these skills through practice leading, and an exercise on asking effective follow-up questions
