The Foundations of Phonological Awareness course is an 8-session professional development program designed for educators who seek to enhance their understanding and teaching of phonological awareness using the Heagerty Curriculum. This course provides a comprehensive exploration of the key components of phonological awareness, including rhyming, alliteration, sentence segmentation, syllable awareness, onset-rime, and phonemic awareness skills such as phoneme isolation, blending, segmentation, and manipulation. By the end of this course, educators will be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to effectively implement phonological awareness activities in their classrooms, ensuring that all students have the skills they need to become proficient readers.
