Culturally Relevant Teaching and Engagement Through an Art Lens will explore ways that the visual arts can be used to foster culturally responsive engagement in your classrooms. Over the length of the course you will reflect upon your own culturally responsive practices, experiment with classroom-applicable art techniques (watercolor and collage), and study contemporary artists who exemplify diverse view points and approaches to communicating ideas. You will produce artworks, a reflective essay, make artist presentations, and finally write a lesson plan in which you apply course content to the needs of your specific teaching position.
Final submission for all sections is due on or before March 9, 2025. Transcripts will be issued 7 days after the final course date.

Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for K-12 educator professionals and support staff for any subject/focus area that they may want to integrate Culturally Responsive Teaching methods using art integration.
