Credit Validation for Optimus Education Participants Only

This course covers the following certifications: QASP, QBA, and IBA.

  • QASP502 – This is the third of four 45-hour courses required for certification by QABA®.
  • QBA606 – This is the second of six 45-hour courses required for certification by QABA®.
  • IBA706 – This is the second of six 45-hour courses required for certification by IBAO®.

Assignments:

Students will be required to complete online lessons as outlined in the syllabus. They must also complete assigned readings, which will be included in the probe quizzes covering the corresponding material. Additionally, students are required to complete the four activities at the end of the course.

  • Recognize ASD, its common characteristics, and associated deficits
  • List common red flags used in early diagnosis and identify risk factors for ASD
  • Define key diagnostic terminology, including pragmatic language, receptive and expressive language, sensory-motor skills, social skills, joint attention, and stereotypy
  • Explain how ASD is diagnosed, the role of differential diagnosis, and common co-morbid disorders such as learning disabilities and processing disorders
  • Describe autism-specific strategies, including Pivotal Response Treatment and Discrete Trial Teaching, and how diagnostic results inform goal development
