Course Description

Credit Validation for Optimus Education Participants Only

This course aligns with the certification requirements for QASP, QBA, and IBA and includes the following courses:

  • QASP504 – The fourth of four 45-hour courses required for certification by QABA®
  • QBA605 – The fifth of six 45-hour courses required for certification by QABA®
  • IBA705 – The fifth of six 45-hour courses required for certification by IBAO®

This course includes 20 hours of Legal, Ethical, and Professional Considerations, featuring a comprehensive review of the QABA Ethical Code of Conduct. Additionally, it covers the required 20 hours of Training and Supervision and 5 hours of Antecedent Interventions.

Ethical Responsibilities Covered in This Course:

Students will explore the ethical responsibilities of QBAs and QASPs across various professional roles, including:

  • Responsibilities as supervisors and supervisees in behavior analysis
  • Ethical obligations to clients, stakeholders, and colleagues
  • Ethical considerations in supervision, training, public statements, and research

There are two assessments, which are optional or assigned at the instructor’s discretion.

Audience: Behavior Therapist, Behavior Supervisor, Behavior Analyst, Qualified Autism Services Practitioner, Qualified Autism Services Supervisor, Master Teacher, Teacher Aide, Director of ABA Services, Supervisor of ABA Services.

  • Describe the importance of behavior-analytic supervision, including its benefits, potential risks of ineffective supervision, and strategies for competency-based training
  • Analyze controlling variables influencing staff performance and develop targeted interventions to improve workplace behavior and effectiveness
  • Demonstrate methods for assessing a supervisee’s baseline skills and knowledge through both direct and indirect assessment techniques
