Course Description

Apply Your TESOL Learning to the Classroom

This course provides opportunities for the professional development of TESOL candidates through teaching practice.  The focus of the course is to link theoretical knowledge and understanding of issues and research in the field of English as a Second Language (ESL)/English as a Foreign Language (EFL) to practice through reflections, written in-class assignments, and classroom experience.

Learner Outcomes

  • Demonstrate an understanding of what it means to be an informed observer in an ESL classroom
  • Demonstrate the procedures and methodologies involved in classroom observation and data collection
  • Collect relevant data to draw an informed conclusion on aspects of English language teaching

Course Details

Number of Units:  2.0 units of graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours

Who Should Attend:  This course provides continuing education for recent college graduates, career changers, and educators who wish to develop their competencies in field of TESOL.

Prerequisites

The successful completion of the four TESOL courses, ELTS-X701 through ELTS-X704, is highly recommended before taking this course.
