The CA STEAM Symposium is co-hosted by the California Department of Education, and the California Commission on the Status of Women & Girls. State Superintendent Tony Thurmond is a regular General Session speaker at the event. The breakout sessions are peer-led by STEAM educators and STEAM enthusiasts. Keynote speakers typically include NASA astronauts, artists, authors of equity-minded and wellbeing best sellers, leading BIPOC scientists, and leaders in STEAM. Students also present during the Student Showcase to demonstrate their passion for STEAM education. The 2025 CA STEAM Symposium provides access to two full days of banner keynotes which will challenge and inspire, peer-lead breakout sessions with actionable ideas to bring back to classrooms, a hands-on, interactive Makerspace, and opportunities to find out about the newest tools and resources in our Exhibit Hall. Rarely do we teach just one portion of the STEAM acronym. Connecting to the real- world requires cross-content work with the goal of helping students feel safe, known, supported, and fully engaged in learning. This event provides the opportunity to learn how to readily integrate STEAM practices into your learning environment, along with strategies and resources to address students’ and educators’ social & emotional well-being to support academic progress.
