Education on Purpose is a professional development course created in partnership between Wayfinder and the Stanford Flourishing Project to provide educators with the resources to reconnect to their sense of purpose. At the heart of this course is the investigation into the art and science of purpose- creation and how living with purpose can help educators flourish within their education communities. By helping educators reconnect to their “why”, they will be able to manage stress more effectively, enhance overall well-being, improve their ability to support school morale, and navigate the complexity of leadership in uncertain times with purpose and agency.
The course consists of 10 live modules and combines the absolute best research on purpose development with practical action steps developed by education practitioners. This world-class professional development experience supports education professionals to feel purposeful and motivated in their careers, even when dealing with the adversity that will inevitably occur throughout the year. Methodologically, this course mixes storytelling, design explorations, experiential learning, intrapersonal + interpersonal refection, and contemplation alongside traditional didactic methods. We promote integrative, contemplative learning experiences focusing on frameworks (theories, ideas, research), tools (skilling, application, praxis), and experiences (intra- and interpersonal) that facilitate living with more purpose and flourishing.
All participating educators will be provided with a physical toolkit to work through the activities covered in class, as well as a recommended reading list to supplement the major topics and ideas covered in the course.
