Credit Validation, Convenient Online Format

This course is intended for teacher candidates in the Designated Subjects Adult Education Program or the Career Technical Education Program who hold a Single Subject, Multiple Subject, or Education Specialist credential. The purpose is to provide an understanding of how to use the California Career Technical Education (CTE) Model Curriculum Standards and Framework (for CTE) or Adult Education Standards (AES) as well as other relevant resources for curriculum planning and development of course outlines, lesson plans, and student assessments. Candidates will focus on the effective use of technology to support and enhance classroom instruction. Candidates will explore the foundations of CTE, AE, and business/industry partnerships.

Course Details

Number of Units: 2.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours

Who Should Attend: The intended audience are Designated Subjects CTE/AE candidates who already hold a Single Subject, Multiple Subject, or Education Specialist Credential. This modified version of the Foundations of Curriculum Course removes those topics already covered in students’ previous credential program coursework. This course fulfills the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing requirement for mastery in utilizing the California CTE Model Curriculum Standards and Framework or Adult Education Standards in their respective authorized area(s).

You must respond to the email to confirm the email address to be used for the course, a second email will then be sent with the invitation to join Canvas.

Note: This course has prerequisite requirements, 1) Possession of a Single Subject, Multiple Subject, or Education Specialist Credential and 2) Possession of a valid Preliminary Designated Subjects CTE or AE Credential. It is recommended you verify that you have met prerequisites prior to enrolling. Refund Policy: All Credit Validation enrollments are refundable, less a $25 fee, if requested within 30 days of enrollment date. There will be no refunds for Credit Validation courses after the allotted 30 days.

Enrollment Opens: February 25, 2026, (12:00PM / Noon) – March 25, 2026 (11:59PM) or until course reaches its maximum enrollment, whichever comes first.  If course reaches maximum enrollment please add yourself to the wait list.
