Journey further with the same subject matter and take the optional corresponding Read, Empower, Act, Discover (R.E.A.D.) Part II (two-units) course to build on the ideas and perspectives learned in the chosen book, pursuing avenues of further research and action to improve education.

Who Should Attend

These courses are designed for K-12 teachers, administrators, early-childhood educators, community college level instructors, museum personnel; other educators may also find the course helpful.  NOTE: Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) does not accept R.E.A.D. courses. If you are a DoDEA educator, refer to our Project READ for DoDEA/Int'l School Educators Series which is acceptable by DoDEA.

 

  1. Choose a course from our R.E.A.D. Part I Series, which corresponds to an approved book title. Scroll through the list by category to find courses. Read the book and complete written assignments.  Course instructions will be available to you in your account, upon enrollment.
  2. Process what you have read and:

Enroll in one or more R.E.A.D. Part I courses in this series, or upon completion of each R.E.A.D. Part I course, delve further into the subject matter by considering earning two more units with the corresponding R.E.A.D. Part II Series course using the same text.

  • Contextualize the subject matter presented in today's classroom and educational environment

Each course in this series requires access to the book listed on the course page. Books are available online at Amazon.com, or at your local bookstore.  Course instructions will be available upon enrollment under this course in your account.

  1. Review the book selections from the list of categories and choose a course.
  2. Select and order the corresponding book. Books can be reviewed on the course page, and ordered through Amazon.com or other linked vendor.
  3. Enroll in the course.
  4. Upon receipt of enrollment and payment confirmation by email, detailed course instructions will be available under My Courses in your account at http://PCE.sandiego.edu.
  5. Upon completion of all assignments, you will submit an electronic file of your completed work by uploading it to the course under My Courses in your account at http://PCE.sandiego.edu.  The assigned instructor will review and evaluate your work, and provide you with feedback via email.  One complimentary official transcript with your final grade will be sent to your mailing address on file, via standard U.S. Postal Service mail.
