Credit Validation for DoDEA Participants Only

Teaching is an art and a science. Marzano (2017) states that “the more skill the classroom teacher has with the instructional strategies that research and theory have uncovered over the decades, the better the teacher will be able to create lessons that optimize student learning.” In this course, participants will unpack 10 teacher actions that contribute to the development of students’ mental state and processes that promote learning.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between teacher actions and student mental state and processes
  • Demonstrate understanding of the 10 teacher actions/ that contribute to student learning
  • Articulate the relationship between the 10 teacher actions and DoDEA’s definition of and walkthrough indicators for excellent instruction (LWT 2.0)
  • Identify ways to embed key instructional strategies into lessons
  • Engage in school level professional discussions/professional learning sessions
  • Reflect on the process of embedding instructional strategies into lessons
