Course Description

Credit Validation for Community Services Center Participants Only

This course provides credit for Mandarin language beginners at the Community Services Center. Survival Chinese I is a course for complete beginners. The course will provide an introduction to Mandarin and explain the tonal system and the pinyin method of writing. The course will focus on learning basic spoken Mandarin. This course is a good opportunity to build skills to be able to communicate with taxi drivers, shop keepers, and market stall owners.

Number of Units:  1.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours

Who Should Attend:  This course provides continuing education for foreigners living in Taiwan for a short or extended period of time, who want an introduction to Mandarin and some idea of how to pronounce basic key phrases.
