Course Description

Credit Validation for DoDEA Participants Only

This course will allow participants to gain a deeper understanding of the ways social emotional learning can have positive impacts on all students and staff. They will learn ways to assist students in social awareness, self-awareness, self-management, relationships skills and responsible decision-making. Participants will read and reflect on four non-fiction texts. They will discuss the books with a Professional Learning Team and make connections to their lives and their teaching, with a focus on supporting students and families as they prepare for life after school. A final reflection project will be submitted to the instructor at the end of the course. Participants will facilitate 1 SEL lesson using the key points from each of the four books and provide a lesson plan and brief write-up of how it went, etc.
