Fine Arts Create Standards-Multimedia Art Approach

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), passed by Congress in December 2015 designates Fine Arts as core subjects. As part of the ESSA call for students to receive a well-rounded education, DODEA has set its goal of establishing an educational system that progressively builds the college and career readiness of all DoDEA students. DoDEA Fine Arts teachers desire to update their pedagogy and have access to resources that support utilizing the NCAS in their classroom to support what students should know and be able to do. This course will offer participants to be able to work with facilitators who have specific knowledge and specialized practice in implementing a Multimedia Art approach. Participants will focus on developing content that focuses on the National Core Art Anchor Standard 2: Organize and Develop Artistic Ideas. All the performance standards under anchor 2, from Kindergarten to High School, include the word “experiment”. This course introduces educators to another way to experiment with traditional and non- traditional materials in their classrooms. All techniques taught in this course can be easily adapted for all learners, for success to be gained at all levels. Therefore, the course will conclude with participants creating lessons geared towards the specific needs of their students.
