Course Description

Credit Validation for Teacher's Learning Center (TLC) Participants Only

This course will present coaching techniques and strategies that should be applied to schools and teaching. The content goes beyond the sports field and into the classroom and relationships to students. Concepts for coaching in the classroom that builds trusting relationships are presented. Other paradigms of coaching models used by motivational and self-improvement authors and speakers are offered for educator use and school applications. Educators will apply the concepts into school settings by developing writings, lessons and classroom activities for instructional settings and schools.

Number of Units: 3.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours

Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for current K-12 educators who need to complete professional development credits and/or graduate level courses for license renewal and salary advancement

  • Demonstrate understanding of reflective practice that results in improved classroom teaching and learning, including teacher reflection, use of technology in self-assessment, collaboration for change, and self-management of change
  • Demonstrate understanding of system and organizational change in education, including models for school change and current research and trends in school change
  • Demonstrate responsibility for student learning at high levels
  • Demonstrate responsibility for school reform and leadership in school change
