This course examines the collection development policies and procedures for creating and updating a school library collection. To include the practical aspects of selection criteria, community analysis and needs assessment, formats, acquisition, processing, maintenance, preservation, circulation, promotion, and evalution of the library collection. The ethical issues , curriculum, fiscal issues relating to the collection, digital resources, and the learning environment will also be discussed. The course will also provide insights to the facilities, opening, moving, and closing of the collection.
