AVID Summer Institute and AVID Ignite are annual professional learning trainings where new Site Teams are introduced to AVID's philosophy and instructional practices and more experienced sites are able to choose from a variety of higher-level AVID Communities of Practice that help deepen and refine their understanding of AVID methodologies and strategies to successfully implement AVID in their schools. The three-day professional learning experience for districts and schools provides content-specific training as well as time for Site Teams to collaborate, understand the power of educator agency, and develop a plan to take back to their schools. AVID Summer Institute and AVID Ignite attendees can earn two units of graduate level extension credit (in semester hours) for attending the training and completing all aspects of the training that include pre-work, active participation in the course, completion of all assignments, and active participation during Site Team time.
This year the University of San Diego is having one section only for credit enrollment. At enrollment you will be asked to provide your AVID Registration # and your MyAVID email that you used to enroll with AVID.org which are required for processing your grade in a timely manner. Please have them available to complete your enrollment for credit with the University of San Diego.
Your transcript with final grade will reflect the dates you attended. Transcripts are issued AFTER the completion of each conference. AVID will verify attendance and provide USD with your grade, then the University will mail them to the address on your student account. Please allow 4-5 weeks after conference ends or 4-5 weeks after you enroll, whichever is later, for processing and mail time.
If you are attending more than one AVID Summer Institute or AVID Ignite session in this year, 2023, and participating in a different Community of Practice each time, you can enroll for additional credit by searching for course EDC-X742V-001 at http://PCE.sandiego.edu.
